Calling of Philip and Nathanael

John 1:43-51

Chapter 1
43 On the next day he wanted to go out into Galilee. And he finds Philip, and Jesus says to him, "Follow me." 44 Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. 45 Philip finds Nathanael and says to him, "We have found the one of whom Moses wrote in the law and the prophets, Jesus son of Joseph from Nazareth." 46 Nathanael said to him, "Can any good thing come from Nazareth?" Philip says to him, "Come and see." 47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and says about him, "Behold, truly an Israelite in whom there is no deceit." 48 Nathanael says to him, "How do you know me?" Jesus answered and said to him, "Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you." 49 Nathanael answered him, "Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the king of Israel." 50 Jesus answered him, "Because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree, you believe? You will see greater things than these." 51 And he says to him, "Amen, amen, I say to you, you will see heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Humanity."
